I will support linux hosting and good host for wordpress are ipage, hostgator and 1&1.
Personally i like blogger because it does not have down time, can use custom domain, very low response time 33ms(you will not get this anywhere), helps in indexing on google and the best it is free

For blogs with 10-50K PV per month, go for a shared plan
For blogs with 50-300K PV per month, go for a VPS plan
For blogs with 300K+ PV per month, go for a dedicated plan
Linux hosting is good, as it is a free OS, and costs less but have same functionality as windows servers.
