We have a few set of rules like each answer should be of 2-3 lines minimum or else the entry would be disqualified. Hence whenever someone requests for the prize we would verify all their activity and then continue. If questions or answers are copied from others sites then the points would be reduced.

Once you cross 250 points you get the web hosting account, once you reach 500 the pen drive and so on. Also i have noted that your questions are not of 1 LINE but are of just 1-3 words which is a penalty and could lead to reduction in points. Its all about the quality with points.

Amit, it’s interesting to see that this contest is picking up and the contest page is updated.
Also, check for the star icon next to the points as the color it depicts doesn’t match with the new points key you’ve updated recently.

@tunir – No option to refer hence didnt set it up. It would be great if you could refer your friends though. Also as mentioned in contest page if you refer people through your blogs, twitter or facebook the highest referrer would get additional points as bonus.
@Krishna – I have already mentioned in the contest page that both my account and (guest) account are not into this contest. Also the star icons colors have to be ignored and more preference should be on the points.

@abhijithvm: All comments(answers) are moderated by admin and moderators. Your comment will not be visible to others, and in question status, before anyone approves that. All comment’s posting time is recorded, so after moderation, all approved comments are sorted by posting time. In your case, any other member may have answered and that answer previously, and was awaiting moderation.
And for the pen-drive, I’m not in hunt for it,though getting it will be great.
So, I haven’t asked Amit for sending it yet. Maybe later, after I achieve a good position, i.e 1000+ points.

@abhijithvm – All the answers are manually approved to verify that they are Original and not copy pasted from other websites. Also if your answer is #2 this means that someone already answered before you and their answer was also in a queue. We will soon be implementing some new features like Rate Answers, Report Answers which can help others know which answer is the best.

Check out the rules again and then go ahead with it. If you want us to give you the proofs of your mistakes we can do that, and believe me that could lead to more loss in points. Always try to understand the rules and work based on that.

Amit, I do agree with tunir’s last line. There are a few users like anvesh who post pointlessly, just for the heck of gaining points.
They are pretty much spamming the pages and nothing productive is coming out of those questions which are poorly framed and convey one word meanings. I strongly think you should put a cap on these users, reduce points or ban them, for all the silly questions they’re crowding the forum with.
And, also. Now that negative points are being awarded, when will the bonus points be awarded?

Time by time everyone who makes mistakes are going to be penalized and who do good will be given bonus. Once any change is made we will be posting the same here. You can always report other users who you think are doing wrong tactics in order to gain points. Tunir is complaining because he did the same mistakes initially and now since he has learnt, we expect him to abide with the rules.
We are planning to build a real good community where in if someone asks some serious question which comes in their mind, they get a very good and useful answer, rather than a few words quick answer. Posting links to some other sites is not really useful because in that case anyone could Google search for the same instead of asking here. Also copying answers from other websites and directly pasting down here is also not allowed.

The calculation of points is normally at 1 point for a question or answer. Sometimes it gives you 2 points and there is nothing manually done, its all automated part of what the theme setup developers have made.

I am having some problems with this site.
The logout function is not working properly.
I clicked the “Home” button after logout, and i was able to see my account. This is not possible in normal cases.(don’t know if it is a problem with my PC/browser).
Another problem is with the homepage.
I will open this site daily more than 3 times.
before some days, I’ve noticed that no one is posting new Qs.
So i didn’t log in.
But after 2 days, i just loged in and i saw a lot of Qs which was invisible before logging in.
I think something is totally wrong.
Please fix it.

@abhijithvm – Will have to look into the Logout option because when we tried out we didnt find this issue. Anyway may be other members can also try out and update on this issue.
Regarding the latest questions not displaying on the homepage is the setting we have set in order to make sure that within 24-48 hours of time we moderate every question and re-edit to ensure that its properly formatted rather than it being a single or two word questions. While if you login to the website you can find all the latest activity directly but being as a unlogged member or a guest you can view the final edited version of the questions which are normally 1-2 days old. Let me know if you have any other questions.

@abhijithvm – Added to Amit: Also this is the reason why we all get 1-2 days old question’s notifications in our email from feeds. Amit used ‘feedpauser’ plugin to pause the feeds to a fixed time, i.e, 24hours.

A tip of login to members,
We login and see updated list of questions and answers, but we have to login everytime we visit, as there are no ‘Remember me’ option in login screen. This is a bit time-taking process to login.
So, this is the trick of login once, browse many. You will have remember me option.
Go to this page instead of normal login page,
http://www.answersnext.com/wp-admin/index.php
There login with your current password and check the remember me option. You’ll be redirected to your account page after login.
This way a no-expire cookie is stored in your computer with logged in info. So, the next time you open browser, you will not have to re-login.

This is a question to Amit specifically.
What if a member cross the prize levels like 250,500,1000 but don’t ask, force or claim for prize? Will the prize is reserved for him? Or, he’ll loose it after someone else gets that upto the number of prizes?
Roughly asking, is prize given to points reacher? or prize claimers?
You’ve said in contest page that “Once you cross any of the above number of points and we will be shipping the gifts to your address.”
So, how do you get the addresses? You ask the members directly? or what? Also, how many 500 points prize(16GB+TEE) is shipped and how many left?
You should update yourself here or in any other page whenever someone gets prize and the remaining prize count should be decreased and updated in somewhere.

@Arup – Technically saying you were not eligible for the 500 points prize because you had earned almost the same points before the contest began but since you had contributed without any hope of receiving a prize, we will be considering your entry. You need to contact us to get your prize or else you may loose it to other members.

The prize options would be more great and attractive if the prizes are given by not reaching levels, by redeeming points.
I’m saying this,
If I have 6000 points, and redeem the net-book, then there should be 1000 points left in my account, but as of now, the net-book winner just earns another 2000 points to get the iPhone.
@Amit: I don’t need the prize at 500 points level, as told earlier. 16GB pen-drive is useless for me . The further prizes looks attractive, but the 500 points prize not to me. Hope you don’t mind. The evaluation of 500 points prize is much less the 250 points prize.
I have evaluated the prize’s price as minimum as follows,
250: 1 GB HOSTING: 55$= Rs.2000+/-
500: 16GB Pen drive+ T-Shirt: Rs. 1100 ~> 1500/-
1000: 8MP camera: Rs. 3000-4000/-
2500: 12MP camera or Tablet: Rs.5000-7000/-
5000: 10″ Netbook: 14000/- ~> 15000/-
7000: iPhone: 20000/- ~> 30000/-
If my estimation is true, then the valuable prizes start from 1000 points onwards.

@Amit u have written in this discussion that first two persons who reach 1000 points will get 8MP camera but it is not fare because on the contest page it is clearly written that these boundations are only for 5000 and 7000 points not for others.i think u should first clearly tell that what the contest is because once we reach the limit and then find that these are for limited nos and which were delivered.

Howdy everyone, Its update time now.
The contest page has been updated with the prizes distributed. We have shipped all the Pen Drives and 1 Digital Camera to Arup. The second camera would still be sent but after the members have passed all the rules.
The contest page already says that the Questions : Answers ratio should be 1:3 which means that you should have atleast 250 questions for 750 answers here. This is not a race to win but to ensure that the contributors are given prizes for their hardwork and knowledge sharing.
We do not allow people to ask 10+ questions per day and also you need to answers unanswered questions first. Also there will be surprise prizes which means that i will roll in more Digital Camera’s to good contributors only if they are really good enough.
