WordPress Hosting – VPS or Shared? – Whats better?

Hi,
I have a blog on civil engineering at http://theconstructor.org/ its one year old and I hosted it at one of good hosting provider in India.

But the problem comes now when the visitors to my site has increased. Hosting provider say that my blog is taking more resources of their servers which is not allowed on shared hosting. The cost of current hosting is 2000/year. They do not provide VPS services or dedicated hosting.
But upon my request they have provided me an option of VPS 4500/month. But that much I can not afford to pay per month.

Currently there are more than 200page views per hour or around 3800 page views per day on my blog.

I used plugin wp-supercache, it has helped, but still there are problems with server resources.

Kindly give me some suggestions about what I should do now as I can not pay 4500 pm.

what type of hosting is required for my blog and where can i get it?

The thing you should do, is switch to another host, giving unlimited(virtually) transfer, and a moderate hosting space with an extremely low ping.
Before switching, you should search and see all reviews/comments on that company. If it’s reliable enough and giving you best service at affordable cost, then go for it.

the thing is not about unlimited transfer or space, its about cpu resource usage of the server. if there are more than 25 users are there at a time, then it uses more resources of the cpu on a shared hosting than permitted and that causes the problem.

Is Rs.4500/- per month ok for cpu 1.9 GHz, 1.3GB Ram, 56 GB space and 1050 GB bandwidth?

Its provided by a hosting provider in India, actually he doesnt provide VPS or Dedicated server, but upon my request he has formulated this plan for me.

I do not want to leave this host because they provide good service, good support and its in India, so, can contact anytime over phone and the response is very quick.

VPS 4500 per month is little bit costly, me runned in a VPS for 2500.

its bettr to reduce plugin numbers, remove unwanted pluggins. especially Related Posts.

Its better to go for a Managed VPS from companies like hostgator – http://www.amitbhawani.com/coupons/hostgator.com/ where in you can move the plans up or down based on your requirement along with free support. The best part is that you can start with a small plan and then upgrade when the traffic grows.

Go for some 50$-60$ plan initially and then upgrade when required. Also as Anish mentioned you should remove the useless plugins which would add more queries in the database. Read this post which can give some idea – http://www.amitbhawani.com/blog/reduce-cpu-server-load-blogs-removing-related-posts-plugin/
