First of all let me tell you one thing – The Latest WordPress version completes 95% of your job because it auto installs the whole plugin and you are left with only a few settings.

Visit the Plugins Section of your WordPress Dashboard > Add New

On this page you will find a list of all the popular tags and a search box where you need to search for wordpress super cache. Once the search is performed you will get a list of different plugins from which you need to select – WP Super Cache , Click on the ‘install’ link located on the most right section of the page. Thats it you have installed this plugin.

Next we will work on setting up or configuring this WordPress Plugin to make it work!

Next Activate the Plugin!

Following this you will get a error on the Top of the Admin section with the following message – WP Super Cache is disabled. Please go to the plugin admin page to enable caching.

Click on the link provided in the message to enter into the super cache plugin settings.

1. WP Super Cache Status
Select option : ON – WP Cache and Super Cache enabled

Click on Update Status, to activate this plugin after which all your posts will be start getting cached into the database.

2. Super Cache Compression
You can leave this option as Disabled as its not required

3. Mod Rewrite Rules
Under this option you will find a button to Updated Mod_Rewrite Rules, which you need to click to update your .htaccess file automatically, once done you will get a message saying – ‘Mod Rewrite rules updated!’

4. Lock Down: Disabled
This setting should be enabled only on High Traffic Blogs because it would disable the latest comments display and always your visitors would see the cached version unless its updated on the time interval set earlier. WordPress is not locked down. New comments will refresh Super Cache static files as normal.

Thats it, your Blog is now ready to handle any kind of traffic sent through Digg or Redditt! Hope this tutorial was Helpful to you!

You need to uninstall the whole plugin, delete the folders created by it and reinstall a fresh latest copy of the same and give the right permissions to the cache files.

I am new with wordpress. I tried to install cache into it but in last i got a message

Mod Rewrite rules cannot be updated!

You must have BEGIN and END markers in /home/pushkar/public_html/.htaccess for the auto update to work. They look like this and surround the main WordPress mod_rewrite rules:

# BEGIN WordPress
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule . /index.php [L]
# END WordPress

Refresh this page when you have updated your .htaccess file.
Need help.. Its urgent

You need to give a 777 permission to the .htaccess file which is available in the public_html folder of your web host. That would fix it.

Problem is not solved yet. Even the size of that file is 0 bytes. Check the below picture

This is right, now under the wp-cache settings you need to enable all the above listed options which will update the .htaccess file.

Which one.. Can you explain in detail. Please help its urgent. Are you taking about these

Don’t cache pages for logged in users.

Proudly tell the world your server is Digg proof! (places a message in your blog’s footer)

Clear all cache files when a post or page is published. (This may significantly slow down saving of posts.)

Cache rebuild. Serve a supercache file to anonymous users while a new file is being generated. Recommended for very busy websites with lots of comments. Makes “directly cached pages” and “Lockdown mode” obsolete.

Coarse file locking. You probably don’t need this but it may help if your server is underpowered. Warning! May cause your server to lock up in very rare cases!

List the newest cached pages (may be expensive to run on busy sites, use with caution.)

Mobile device support using WordPress Mobile Edition

As mentioned earlier, if its changed to 644, it wont be updated through the plugin page. This is the reason read write access of 777 was recommended.
