Find a Question:
Apple MacBook Pro – processor

I’m trying to purchase MacBook Pro. Apple Store quotes i5 or i7 processor, while online retailers like Amazon sell this product with Core 2 duo processor. The price difference seems significant (> $1200), when all other features are the same. What is the difference between these 2 processors, in terms of performance/functionality?
thanks.

The i5 or i7 processors take the performance to the next level in every aspect, when compared to the Core 2 Duo processor. And yes, the difference is more than 1K for the different processors, but that is worth it if you are looking for using the laptop with a better performance in the long run.
It depends on whether you need your laptop for a normal home usage, or need it for some other reason like heavy works in office or designing etc. stuff. Core 2 Duo is enough for normal home usage, but the i5 and i7 processors are heavy usage ones for professional usage. You would see these options in the 15″ and 17″ Macbook Pro laptops, and not the normal macbooks.
