Hi amit.
Few days back I visited the sitemap section of the webmasters tool and it showed me 700+sitemap links indexed in total. After few days (around 3-4 days) my webmaster account showed me only 160 indexed links. So after seeing this I submitted my sitemap again and then again it showed me 700+ indexed link. I’have noticed this whole thing almost 7-8 time in my webmaster tool account.
Also i noticed today that the no of links in my sitemap was dramatically reduced. Anyway i have regenerated it , and its fine right now.
But amit, if you ave any idea, can you please tell me whats happening with these sitemap indexed links in webmaster account and sitemap links in sitemap itself , I mean how my indexed sitemap links gets reduced autmatically after sometime and then reappears again in webmaster account.
Thanks in advance for any help!

Amit my blog is 16 months old so i think this should not happen to my blog. Anyway i agree with your point that i need to work more on generating more backlinks.
Anyway, amit tell me one thing that how no. of links can reduce in the sitemap itself. I mean its a .xml file on my servers no one has the access to it to edit it but still no of links gets drastically reduced sometimes. When i regenerate the sitemap everything gets back to normal.
Note: This reductionn in links has got nothing to do with Google.

This can be a problem with the hosting server or the sitemap plugin where in at some moment the connection would be cancelled because of which the crawler could not find all the links, hence you will find less pages in the sitemap. This can be a temporary issue and you should not worry much about this.
Believe it or not my sitemap script generates +/- 100′s of pages crawled and still i dont care about this, because i keep linking to other posts manually so that the google bots can ultimately find them and get them ranked. In short work with scripts but focus more on hard work by manually linking to other pages to sort out everything.

This happens a lot when the blog is still new, and this means that once the blog is running from a year+ time and also is having decent amount of backlinks to it, it gets authority after which there wont be any issues in this indexing pages.
You need to work more on the backlinks part so that the site is regularly indexed and visited by Google Bots continuously which would help it in better indexing and also in rankings.
