Google webmaster tools showing site loading time too high.

Hi amit,
My google webmaster tools account is showing me my sites loading time very high. In fact it is showing me that it is slower than 98% of the sites on internet and the average page loading time for my site is 16.4 seconds (according to webmaster tools). But i am monitoring my site with pingdom.com , and the pingdom tool is showing me quite low loading time compared to webmaster tools account (around 11 sec).
Even i have checked my sites performance with Google page speed tool and my site seems to be satisfactory with it also.
Some additional info: My single post pages are not at all heavy, even just a one look on them will give you an idea.You may have a look here: http://virgintech.org. My sites homepage loading is 4 seconds as reported by pingdom (http://tools.pingdom.com) . 12:43 PM
If you need any other info to answer this question please do let me know, i will reply as soon as possible.
Webmaster tools does not mention any crawl errors or html content problems either.
If you have any idea amit about this, then do let me know plz.

Thanks amit for your detailed response.
Its really hard to believe on some of the Google webmaster tools data. Anyway as you said,i’ll ignore it.

Hi,
Just checked your website and it took me 12-14 seconds around for loading and each of these tools would report different loading time and this is because of different technologies. Generally Google compares your site with all over the web and the standard time every web page takes to load and gives the results. You wont believe but my blog shows 100% slower than all other websites, but that’s something we can ignore.
On average, pages in your site take 22.2 seconds to load (updated on Dec 30, 2009). This is slower than 100% of sites. The chart below shows how your site’s average page load time has changed over the last few months. For your reference, it also shows the 20th percentile value across all sites, separating slow and fast load times.
The loading time represents everything from the content, theme files, advertisement codes, css files etc.
