Hi Amit, I have been your regular reader and really admire your blogging skills and the genuine help that you offer to the readers by way of your help forum. Today I am struck with a problem and need your help.
I have a self hosted blog ( with a domain name of my own ) on an independent server via FTP ( not hosted on blogspot.com ), and I am using blogger platform for publishing the posts. Now I want to migrate the same blog to wordpress self hosted platform. In this case will my blogs permalinks change after I migrate to wordpress self hosted platform, or will they remain unaffected? Will my PR, traffic, backlinks, SEO, comments etc. be affected? Please explain me and tell me the procedure to migrate so that my blog is not affected in any way. I would be grateful for your advice and help.
Thanks.
Ravi.

My present blog which is hosted via ftp through blogger.com has already been verified at webmaster tools, after migrating I will verify the wordpress blog too, then do I have to do 301 redirection for the permalink of each and every post seperately, or is their any simpler method of doing it, can you please explain me the process.
Thanks.

(1) The permalinks in blogger end with .html, but in wordpress it is not so, how will this affect the blog once I migrate to wordpress?
(2) After setting up wordpress, do I have to import the blog from blogger, and upload it to my newly created wordpress blog, whats the right procedure?

Read this article for the quick procedure – http://www.amitbhawani.com/blog/convert-transfer-blogspot-wordpress-blog/
Next you can even add .html in wordpress permalinks structure too.

In case of Blogger the Permalinks are quite different because they attach the dates in the URL, but in case of wordpress you can setup custom permalinks. Hence its recommended to try to maintain the same structure or else go with the wordpress permalinks structure without the dates etc, the way i use on my blog.
Next setup a Sitemap and generate it and submit to Google Webmaster Tools so that the bots would index the new URL and drop the old ones. This would take some time but it would again help you in regaining the rankings.
