Find a Question:
cpanel backup

Amit,
I am now having a growing concern about the backup for my Blog (www.dotgiri.com).
I use cpanel , I had taken full cpanel backup, but I just want to make sure this backup will be working fine. so will i be able to restore it to a different domain and see my contents there (i know about duplicate content issue , I will deleete it soon once I see the content). I guess full backup can’t be restored to a different domain.
If so what is the next option for me to check by backup, I would like to restore the entire content to a different domain.. or even a local system. I set up the webserver as per your earlier post…
please advise

Yes you can try out the local system based installation but it would be hard for a normal person to restore a Cpanel Backup on a computer because you will again need a Cpanel Script installed on your local computer. Though you can check out the Cpanel.net website if they would offer you a demo version of the same.

Another option is that you should try out different wordpress backup plugins which can help you take a backup of the blogs database, being sent to your as a email daily and you should manually take a backup of all the Images, WordPress Themes & Plugins because those rarely change , hence you get a daily updated backup with the lowest usage of resources.
