Yes i have ben using an alternatesoftware to Microsoft Office Suite. The software Abiword is very much light for your system and eat up less memory and has much enhanced feature than MS Word. Just try it out if you need. You can download it at. http://www.freewarefiles.com

Is it compatible with MS Word? If it compatible then and then only it is useful otherwise it may not useful. Today in any field MS word is used. So it should have compatibility.

Didnt knew there were any real good alternatives of MS office but lets check this out too. If it can offer most useful features of MS applications then its a good option for all those people who dont want to pay for paid versions.
